Billing & Renewals
Will my price go up at renewal?
No. The rate you sign up at is the rate you renew at — permanently. There is no introductory teaser that resets to a higher “regular” price in year two. This isn’t a marketing line: it’s written into our Terms of Service. If we ever raise prices for new customers, your existing plan keeps its original rate.
Do you have a money-back guarantee?
Yes — every new hosting plan comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you’re not satisfied for any reason within 30 days of your initial purchase, contact us and we refund your hosting fees in full. Domain registrations are the exception (the fee goes to the registry immediately and the domain remains yours to transfer). Details: Refund Policy.
How do I cancel?
From the client area, or by emailing hello@candorhost.com from your account’s email address. By default service continues through the end of your paid billing period; you can also request immediate cancellation. On prepaid annual or multi-year terms, unused full months are refunded at the rate you paid — see the Refund Policy. Before you go, you can export everything — your data is yours. Details: Cancellation.
Can I pay yearly or multi-year?
Yes — every hosting plan can be paid monthly, yearly, or two or three years at a time. Prepaying earns free months, and the discount deepens with the term: one year costs ten months’ price (two months free), two years cost nineteen (five free), and three years cost twenty-seven (nine free). In dollars, that’s Solo at $150, $285, or $405, Studio at $350, $665, or $945, and Org at $750, $1,425, or $2,025 for one, two, or three years.
The rate you renew at is the rate you signed up at — on every term. That means a prepay here is a real discount, not a teaser that resets to something higher later. The 30-day money-back guarantee applies to new plans whatever term you pick, and if you cancel a prepaid term later we refund the unused full months at the rate you paid — the discount stays yours. Candor Deploy plans are monthly-only for now.
Migrations
Is migration really free?
Yes, and it’s done by hand, by us — not by a script that emails you when it fails. Email migrations@candorhost.com or open a ticket, give us access to your current host, and we move your sites, databases, and email. We’ll reply within one business day to schedule the move with you, and once a migration is underway it gets priority attention until it’s done.
Will my site go down during the migration?
We copy your site to our servers and test it there while your current host keeps serving traffic. Only when it works do you switch DNS — so visitors move over seamlessly. If anything looks wrong on our side, you simply don’t switch, and nothing has changed for your visitors.
Plans & Limits
What are the actual resource limits?
Published, in full, on the platform page — storage, mailboxes, databases, and the per-account guaranteed CPU, memory, IOPS, and I/O bandwidth, pulled from the same configuration files that provision accounts. There is no “unlimited” column because unlimited doesn’t exist — only limits someone won’t tell you.
What does “not metered” transfer mean?
We don’t count your bandwidth or charge overages, and there’s no hidden monthly cap. The Acceptable Use Policy governs genuine abuse (like running a video CDN off a shared plan) — which is what every host’s “unlimited bandwidth” actually means. We just say it plainly.
Are the CPU and memory numbers caps or guarantees?
Guarantees. They’re enforced per account by Linux cgroups on the server, so your allocation is yours even when the machine is busy — a noisy neighbor stays their problem. The numbers per plan are in the table on the platform page.
Can I change plans later?
Yes — upgrade or downgrade from the client area at any time, and your renewal price stays whatever the plan’s listed rate was when you signed up for it. If you’re not sure what fits, ask in chat; per Candid Support we don’t upsell inside support conversations, so you’ll get a straight answer.
Websites & WordPress
Which PHP versions can I run?
PHP 8.3 is the default, and you can switch versions per site from the control panel — no ticket needed. SSH access, cron jobs, server-side caching, and a DNS editor are included on every plan.
Do you support staging sites?
Studio and Org plans include staging sites (5 and 15 respectively) plus one-click site cloning — build and test a copy, then push it live. Solo focuses on a single production site. The full feature matrix is on the platform page.
How is WordPress managed?
From your portal: one-click secure login to wp-admin (no password juggling), core updates (plugins and themes update through wp-admin, one click away), PHP version control, and self-service restores from backups. Under it all, each site runs isolated in its own container with its own resource guarantees.
Is email hosting included?
Yes — every plan includes mailboxes (10 on Solo, 50 on Studio, 200 on Org) with IMAP/SMTP and webmail. You create and manage them yourself in the panel.
Will my email actually reach inboxes?
That’s the point of our setup: outbound mail goes through a dedicated IP address used only by Candor Host customers, so its reputation isn’t shared with spammers. SPF and DKIM records are configured automatically for every domain, and we monitor deliverability continuously from the outside.
Domains
Can I register or transfer my domain with you?
Yes — search and register from our domain page, or transfer an existing one. Pricing is honest cost-plus: the registry’s price plus a flat 15%, with no teaser first year that triples at renewal. Domain registrations are non-refundable once placed (the fee goes straight to the registry), but the domain is always yours to transfer.
Can I keep my domain where it is and still host with you?
Absolutely. Point your domain’s DNS at your Candor Host site (we hand you the exact records, or connect it from the panel) and keep the registration wherever you like. Hosting and registration are separate decisions on purpose.
Backups, SSL & Security
How do backups work?
Automatic backups are included on every plan — never an upsell. They’re stored on separate backup infrastructure (a different physical server than your site), and you browse and restore them yourself from the panel in one click, without opening a ticket.
Is SSL included?
Yes — free Let’s Encrypt certificates are issued and renewed automatically for every site and domain alias. HTTPS is enforced: plain-http requests redirect, and our own properties ship HSTS.
What security runs on the servers?
A web-application firewall running the OWASP Core Rule Set inspects traffic at the edge; customer sites get daily malware scans with automatic quarantine; every server runs host-based intrusion detection (file-integrity monitoring, audit logging, rootkit scanning), brute-force protection on every login surface, and automatic security updates. Full picture: Security and the platform page.
Support
How fast do you actually respond?
During business hours — 9am–6pm ET, Monday through Friday — a site-down ticket gets a first response within 1 hour, with resolution or a real ETA the same day. Everything else gets a first response within one business day. The full table is in Candid Support. Monitoring runs around the clock, and in practice we often reply outside posted hours too — we just don’t publish promises we can’t always keep.
Who answers my ticket?
An engineer with production access — someone who deploys code, reads server logs, and can actually fix your problem, not a tier-1 rep routing you up a ladder. Closing replies include the root cause and what we did, not just “resolved.” And never an upsell inside a support conversation. That’s Candid Support.
Candor Deploy
What is Candor Deploy?
Our git-push app platform: connect a GitHub repository and every push builds and ships automatically, with HTTPS, custom domains, databases, logs, and rollbacks — flat, honest pricing like everything else we run. It lives beside your hosting in the same client area. Details: Candor Deploy.
Do I need Docker or DevOps experience for Deploy?
No. Point it at your repository and the platform detects your stack and builds it — Node, Python, Go, Rust, PHP, Ruby, or a static site. You write code and push; building, TLS, and running it are our job.
